EU Parliament launches Call for Proposals

The European Parliament (EP), in conjuction with the Directorate General for Communication (DGC), has launched a funding call for television, radio and internet projects which aim to enhance understanding of the role of the EP and how it functions.  Chosen projects will also encourage a wider public interest and participation in the decision making process and provide a platform for Member State citizens to raise important issues.

With regard to television projects, the DGC will only consider projects which offer a means of communicating with a wide cross section of citizens.  Programmes may be the subject of a regional, national or multi-national broadcasting schedule, and should concentrate on providing unbiased, accurate and up-to-date information.

The proposed programme(s) will be broadcast at times and on dates which will reach as large a number of viewers as possible in the audience targeted by the project.

Grants will only be offered to project proposals which have been researched and fully developed with all schedule and budget considerations taken into account. Project proposals for TV programmes of a 'one-off' nature may be considered, as will programmes broadcast as a series.

Each grant awarded may cover up to a maximum of 60% of total eligible costs as presented in the budgetary estimate in the application form. The amount of the grant requested from the European Parliament will not be less than €50,000 and will not be greater than €300,000

The deadline for submissions is 1 September 2009.
