MEDIA will support 24 promotional events taking place in the second half of 2009, which improve European audiovisual professionals' access to markets.  Amongst the winning bids are the well-established Cartoon Forum, Sunny Side of the Doc and The Amsterdam FORUM for Co-financing Documentaries. The European Film Awards will take place in Germany's Ruhr area with €150,000 support from the MEDIA Programme. 

MEDIA will fund several market-type sidebar events that run alongside festivals such as the Sales Office at San Sebastian; Business Street and New Cinema Network at Rome Film Festival and Agora Film Market and Crossroads Co-production Forum at Thessaloniki Film Festival.

Other interesting places to go to this year are MIFA, a major animation market in Annecy, France; the Mannheim Meetings in Germany; Nordisk Panorama in Finland and Galway Film Fair in Ireland.

Sheffield's MeetMarket has been successful in securing a three-year commitment from MEDIA.  There is also a newly funded UK-based initiative, Film London's Production Finance Market.
