Common Language Film Festival - A celebration of European film
The Common Language Film Festival, a celebration of European film, will be taking place at cinemas in the UK from 30 May - 5 June.
When borders in Europe have all but disappeared, culture in all its forms is taking on increased importance in helping diverse groups and individuals communicate. Common Language aims to celebrate the universal language of film - a week of premieres, previews and rare screenings of films from all over Europe including France, Germany, Poland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Belgium, and Spain. Some of the films will have been previously only seen at international film festivals and will only receive limited UK distribution.
The participating cinemas are:
Gate Cinema, Notting Hill
Clapham Picturehouse
Picturehouse at FACT, Liverpool
Harbour Lights Picturehouse, Southampton
Little Theatre Cinema, Bath
Cambridge Arts Picturehouse
Cinema City, Norwich
Stratford Upon Avon Picturehouse
Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle
City Screen, York
Broadway Cinema and Media Centre, Nottingham
Information about titles and tickets will soon be available at www.picturehouses.co.uk
In partnership with the European Commission Representation in the UK, European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008, and UK MEDIA Desk.
