Details
Currently One World is one of the leading festivals dealing with the issue of human rights in Europe and belongs among the founding members of the Association of Human Rights Festivals, which joins together 17 festivals from throughout the entire world.
Part of the One World Festival includes the awarding of the only international human rights award Homo Homini. The program of the festival also includes the highest quality documentary films that were completed in the previous year and received awards at prestigious international festivals, but also investigative and activist films, which draw attention to the most serious problems and violations of human rights.
One World is a meaningful discussion forum which opens in Prague and then moves on to 29 towns and cities throughout the Czech Republic. This year there will be over 50 discussions of various foreign- political, human-rights, civil society and ecological themes. Another 60-70 discussions will take place in the 13 regional centers.
One World is an education platform. The screening of this year's festival will be visited by about 6,000 pupils and students of the primary and secondary schools in Prague and approximately 14,000 in the regions. After each film screening there will follow a debate. Participation in the One World Festival can offer young people a more diverse perception of the world, places news in a wider connection, and breaks down prejudices and teaches the viewers to articulate their own opinions in an open discussion.
Films can be selected for the Main Competition, Right to Know Competition, Short Forms Competition and non-competitive thematic categories.
